Unlock Codes by Brand — NCK, MCK and SPCK Explained

Code-based unlocking is the cheapest route in this catalogue and the one with the most ways to go wrong. This page covers the whole code family: what NCK, MCK, RGCK and SPCK actually free, which brands and years still use codes at all, and the four mistakes that account for most failed orders.

Short answer. These checks answer a question that decides what to do next, and they cost cents. Run the identity and lock checks first, then the blacklist check, and only then order an unlock.

What the message actually means

An NCK is the network unlock code, derived from the IMEI by the operator's database. MCK frees a sub-network (provider) lock, RGCK a regional lock, SPCK a service-provider lock. On a handset that still prompts, entering the right code writes the unlock into non-volatile memory: it survives a factory reset and does not trip Knox.

Since roughly 2020 most flagship Samsungs and all US carrier variants no longer prompt at all — they are server-side locked and need a carrier release, not a code. Sending a code order for one of those fails every time.

What you are seeing

Step 1 — check before you spend

  1. Dial *#1234# on a Samsung — the CSC line is the region (BTU, XSA, ZTO, CHO, TMB…). Wrong region is the top cause of a rejected code.
  2. Check the model code (SM-XXXX) against the service page: code services list the models and years they cover.
  3. If the phone never prompts for a code, stop — it is server-side locked.

Step 2 — what to do with the answer

  1. Identify the region with *#1234# and the model code.
  2. Pick the code service matching region + model + year.
  3. Insert a foreign SIM, wait for the prompt, enter the code exactly once.

The free route fails for one of four reasons, and only the last one needs money: the device is still financed; the account was closed with a balance; the buyer is not the account holder; or the IMEI is reported. Everything else is a paperwork problem the carrier can fix.

The code services in this catalogue are priced from a couple of dollars and refunded when no code can be generated for a covered model. Every problem on this page is diagnosable before you buy a second code — the region check and the model list are there for that.
