IMEI Check
Check a Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco Before You Buy: Mi Account, MDM, Warranty
Xiaomi's account lock, MDM enrollment and warranty state live in different systems. Knowing which one applies decides whether the phone is usable or needs a removal service.
Last reviewed 2026-10-26
Xiaomi devices can present three different locks that look identical on screen: a Mi account lock, Google FRP, and an MDM enrollment. They are removed by different products, and buying the wrong one is a guaranteed loss.
A device check before ordering tells you which one is active — and the warranty and region fields tell you whether it is worth repairing at all.
Three locks, three products
- Mi account lock: the phone asks for the Mi account that was last signed in. Requires Mi account removal.
- Google FRP: the phone asks for a Google account after a reset. Requires FRP removal.
- MDM or enterprise enrollment: a management profile installs itself at setup. Requires MDM removal.
Note
A full-info check bundles Mi account status, MDM state and warranty for one order — cheaper than buying two removals because you guessed wrong. What the report includes
- Mi account lock state and whether the device is bound to an account.
- MDM or enterprise enrollment state.
- Warranty status and region, which matters because regional variants receive different updates and band support.
- IMEI validity, which catches counterfeit identifiers on clones.
The decision flow
- 1Check the device state first.
- 2If it is Mi-account locked, order Mi account removal.
- 3If it is Google-FRP locked, order FRP removal.
- 4If it is MDM-enrolled, order MDM removal, not a flash.

Frequently asked questions
Is a Mi account lock the same as FRP?
No. Xiaomi uses its own account system in addition to Google's. The prompt on screen tells you which one you are facing.
Can I flash a Xiaomi device to remove the account lock?
Flashing returns the device to the setup wizard, where the same lock reappears. It does not remove the binding.
Does the bootloader need to be unlocked for these checks?
No. All of the account and MDM checks are IMEI-based and require no physical access.
