Buying GSM Tool Activations, Credits and Renewals Safely
Chimera, UnlockTool, UMT, DFT, TFT, EFT, NCK, Cheetah and every other box has one of three commercial models. Knowing which one you are buying prevents the classic “I paid and got no credits” problem.

A repair shop’s software spend is usually the second-largest cost after parts, and most of it goes to tool activations and credits. Buying them is simple once you know which model a given vendor uses.
The three commercial models
- One-time activation: pay once, the dongle or account is activated permanently for that tool (typical for dongle-based tools).
- Credit-based: each operation consumes credits; you top up when the balance runs out. Prices per operation vary by device and operation.
- Subscription / renewal: time-limited license (monthly, quarterly, yearly) that must be renewed — typical for cloud-based tools.
How to order correctly
- 1Identify the exact tool and the exact edition — many vendors sell two products with similar names (e.g. a base activation and a premium module).
- 2For credits, choose the pack size that matches your shop’s monthly volume; credits usually do not expire, but pack pricing is non-linear.
- 3For renewals, have the license username or dongle ID ready — renewals cannot be applied to an unregistered account.
- 4Activation is delivered as an account action or a dongle update; record the timestamp because disputes are resolved against it.
Note
Reseller-activated tools are usually cheaper than direct purchase, but only resellers listed by the vendor can activate. Confirm the reseller is on the vendor’s list before paying.Services used in this guide

Frequently asked questions
Do credits expire?
On most tools, no — credits stay on the account until consumed. Check the vendor’s terms because a few tools apply an inactivity expiry.
Can I transfer an activation to another PC?
Dongle-based activations travel with the dongle; account-based activations usually allow a limited number of machine registrations per period.
What is a “box” versus a “tool”?
A box is the physical USB device that holds the license; the tool is the software it unlocks. Both must match the vendor — you cannot use one vendor’s box with another’s tool.
