Android Unlock
Flashing Stock Firmware on Samsung, Xiaomi and MTK Devices
Flashing is not an unlock. Getting that distinction right saves devices: this guide explains when a firmware flash fixes a phone, when it destroys one, and the checks to run first.

Flashing replaces the software on the device. It fixes bootloops, corrupt system partitions and wrong-region ROMs. It does not remove a carrier lock, a Google account lock or an MDM enrollment — in fact it usually makes an MDM or FRP situation harder, because the device comes back to the setup wizard.
Check before you flash
- Bootloader state: a locked bootloader rejects most non-official images, and unlocking it may void warranty and trip anti-rollback.
- Anti-rollback counter (Xiaomi/Qualcomm): flashing an older version than the ARB index permanently bricks the device.
- Region / CSC: on Samsung, flashing the wrong CSC image changes the region but not the carrier lock.
- Battery level above 50% and a stable USB connection — most “bricked” devices are flashing aborts.
Tool per platform
- Samsung: Odin with the correct CSC and a matching firmware build; use BL/AP/CP/CSC together.
- Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco: MiFlash with a fastboot ROM, or the official recovery ROM if the bootloader is locked.
- MTK (MediaTek): SP Flash Tool with the scatter file, Download Agent and authenticate file for the chipset.
- Qualcomm generic: EDL-mode tools with a signed programmer image.
If the flash fails
- 1Do not retry with a different firmware blindly — read the tool error code (e.g. Odin FAIL at sboot, MiFlash “error: Anti-rollback”).
- 2For a bootloop after a failed flash, re-enter download mode and flash the same firmware again before trying a different one.
- 3If the device no longer responds to any mode and shows nothing on screen, it is in EDL/preloader state and needs a service-level recovery.

Frequently asked questions
Can flashing remove FRP?
No. A stock flash restores the device to the setup wizard, where FRP still applies. FRP removal is a separate service.
Is flashing free firmware from the internet safe?
Only if it is the exact build for your model and region. Mismatched firmware is the main cause of hard bricks.
Will flashing unlock the network?
No. The carrier lock is not stored in the flashed partitions on most modern devices.
